    Hey Marek.
Happy New Year, first of all.
I am curious, why isn't CX 30 on this list? I was under the impression you were very satisfied with it. I am also surprised to see C5 Aircorss made it to the list, based on your review.
    Thanks.

Since we're talking best of the decade, I've got some older stuff on my list.
    Best tech:
    – keyless entry and go
    – electric heaters in diesels (not the ones that work with the car parked, but the ones that simply help the engine warm up faster)
    – heated seats and heated steering wheel
    – smartphone mirroring/CarPlay/Android Auto
    – parking sensors and cameras

    Worst tech:
    – factory sat nav
    – lane assist
    – auto emergency braking (I don't drive as man cars as you do, but the ones I've been inside all produced a bunch of false warnings)
    – voice assist
    – gesture control (BMW, VW)
    – phone apps for cars
    – keys with screens
    – electric door handles
    – anti stall features on manual cars (because they don't help if you suck at driving but they suck if you know what you're doing)

    • Avatar

Early emergency braking systems can be annoying. Anti-stall feature? I don't think I've ever encountered that one.

    • Avatar

@Marek Drives It's not just the early ones. We have an event here where all the manufacturers bring their cars to 1 place and you can drive them. The Skoda Karoq was kinda scary. It beeped at me 3 times in 20 minutes and even hit the brakes once because of trees next to the road.

By anti stall stuff I mean when you start releasing the clutch and it raises the idle to like 1000 RPM. I might be partial because there is a car in our family that has this and it's broken (Ford). Can't really be fixed. Diagnostics show that 3-4% throttle gives you a 20-25% opening of the throttle body and it revs up to 2500 RPM. Literally undriveable in a traffic jam and the dealer can't fix it. Bunch of software updates, replaced throttle pedal and sensor, still just as bad. Currently in the process of talking to Ford. It's also gonna be for sale at the end of the winter because we are done having a 3 year old car that simply doesn't work.

@ast5515 I can't remember which car(s) it was specifically, but on my filming road there is a corner, which if you take too fast, you may wake up the collision warning system in some cars.

Ford tells me people don't want to by their cars because of me, and it seems they are doing a perfectly good job without my help 🙂

@Marek Drives Ford is kinda funny. But yeah I always tell everyone to avoid them like the plague.
I feel bad because I had a MK1 Focus and it was the best car I've ever driven. Kept it for 17 years. And now Ford is just crap.

Have tech and all of its shortcomings. In inclement weather, most are rendered useless. I just don't understand why people so desperately want to pass responsibility to tech as opposed to just being a good driver.

You have a point, BUT (Robin gets slapped by Batman 🙂 ) there are now more cars, and more people driving. Not everyone should be driving, but many people have to. We also are more distracted, which shouldn't be an excuse, but it looks bad if people are dying in your car.

    Personally, I like these features:
heated steering wheel (and shifter knob), ventilated and masage seats, and speed limits showed on screen. And maybe keyless entry/start. Hate everything else. All of those so called "driver aids", automatic wipers, start-stop, turbos on gasoline engines, lack of handbrakes, electric door handles, anything that beeps or bongs or pings on me. Even traction systems are more and more annoying, and they can't be switched off completely.
When I am driving, I want to be really driving. And I really don't want chicken brain computer with half baked software to send me into nearest tree.

Happy New Year! Keep growing, get more subscribers, more money and ability to produce new interesting vids.
Wesołych Świąt from a Ukrainian, living in Slovakia and watching Polish car reviewer, one of the best on YouTube!
Car infotaiment system should be nowadays just a display for a personal smartphone, smartphone apps are updating more frequently and accurately comparing to car's software.
Heating – I vote for all seats, not just first row. Heated steering wheel – I never had it, but I believe it's cool feature.
Driving assistance – never tried lane assist, active cruise control or collision prevent systems, but since I'm doing over 30tkm every year – it should be cool features too.

Please do more of family cars – buses, vans, big SUVs!
From my point of view – if you will have a chance to drive some interesting pre-owned cars – please show them up to the auditory.

I'm really happy for ventilated seats becoming a thing in regular affordable cars, thank you Hyundai and Kia. I'm sure the trend will keep going in this decade.

    Happy New Year Marek!
I ALWAYS turn the stop-start off when I start the car. Turning off the engine makes all the engine oil return to the sump, and there will be a delay before it's back again where it's needed. During this delay many times a day there will be big wear and tear in the engine.
I would like to have automatic high-low switching beam.

@Marek Drives Maybe, but I still think/believe shutting off many times a day in city traffic increases wear and tear in battery, starter and engine itself. Possibly other components too.

    • Avatar

@Tommy S which is why cars with s&s get bigger batteries, more powerful starter motors, etc. Also in some cars, like Mazda for example, the engine stops at a very precise position of the pistons so as to minimise the force needed to restart.

    • Avatar

@Marek Drives More expensive to replace those parts when that time comes for the (second hand) owner.
I'd rather have other technology in the car, as seat and mirror adjustment memory settings, which few cars have as standard, in spite of it being very basic tech now.

    • Avatar

@Tommy S there was a time, when people didn't want AC or electric windows in their cars, because they would be expensive to fix if they break. And that was back in the day, when you got 1-year warranty with your car. Stop whinging.

    • Avatar

@Marek Drives I am not whinging.
If you wouldn't try to convince me I'm wrong, I wouldn't have continued with why I'm against it.
I simply don't value that technology.
I DO value electronic engine management, ABS, stability control systems, tire pressure control, xenon/LED and automatic beam control for better light when driving in darkness. And many other safety and comfort technology, but not all.
      If they are implemented well.
I also value something relatively simple as memory settings for driving seat and mirrors, for easy switch of driver.

You wanted comments on what viewers think about different technology, and I shared some of my thoughts on this.
